Police Dog Leroy PD356

Police Dog Leroy PD356

PD Leroy was one of 4 of his litter who past coarse from the last internal Labour breeding conducted by the QPS.  He was born on 29th of December 2012 along with his brothers who also later passed coarse as drug detection dogs in 2014.  His brothers were Levi, Loki, and Larry.  All who served as drug or cadaver dogs from 2014.  Until their retirement in 2021 on the same day.
PD Leroy was the first drug dog to be trained in not only drugs but firearm and cash detection making him a trail blazer and very successful member of the Brisbane Dog Squad finding many KG of dangerous drugs, firearms and millions of dollars in tainted cash.
His Grandad was a working drug dog Asco and his Dad was also a working bomb dog Pezz.
His Mum was Fern who was the sister of his first kennel mate PD Flipa.
Leroy's current kennel companion is Turbo who is his half brother due to frozen sperm from his dad Pezz.
In his retirement he became the first comfort dog to the QPS visiting sick children in hospital.  Providing a break to QPS members in stressful jobs such as the communication rooms and units dealing in child harm offences and prosecutions.  Along with our front line staff in General Duties.
He has been with his handler Sgt Breuer since graduating his drug detection coarse and still lives with Sgt Breuer in his retirement.
Every morning he goes for exercise with his new kennel mates and current working dogs PD Ice and Turbo.  Regardless of how early the working group goes to work there is always time to get a couple of kilometers in at 0400.
He struggles a little in the dark of the morning of winter to get in the work van for his bush walk with his mates but is loving life in retirement as long as he gets a cookie before Sgt Breuer Ice and Turbo head out to work post walk.
Thank You for your service Leroy.
